Solar Thermal (Hot Water)

Solar Thermal Diagram

Rather than using electricity or gas to heat the hot water for the sinks at Cascade Meadow, this system uses heat from the sun.It has two closed loops- one that pumps heated liquid from the solar collectors to the transfer tank, and another that pumps heated water out to the building's sinks. If more hot water is needed than the system can provide (if it has been cloudy and cold for a few days), there is a back-up electric hot water heater.
