LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design)

LEED LogoThe LEED certification program was developed by the U.S. Green Building Council as a third-party verification of sustainable building practices. The LEED framework was used in the design and construction of the Cascade Meadow science center. This framework identifies sustainable practices in several key areas, including: water, energy, materials, the building site, indoor environmental quality, community linkages, education, and innovation.

Points in each of the areas above are submitted and verified to earn a LEED certification level: certified, silver, gold, or platinum. The Cascade Meadow Wetlands & Environmental Science Center has been certified LEED Platinum.
